Wisdom for the Day - Standing Strong
Day 003 Chosen and Appointed | John 15:16
What if the most important truth about your purpose is already settled? We explore the liberating promise of John 15:16—“You didn’t choose me. I chose you. I appointed you to go and produce lasting fruit”—and let it reshape how we see calling, readiness, and everyday obedience. Instead of chasing approval or waiting for perfect conditions, we walk through a grounded, practical approach to living as someone chosen on purpose and sent to love in ordinary places.
We start by naming the ache many feel: overlooked, unqualified, not quite ready. Then we flip the script with a simple pattern found throughout Scripture—God calls first and equips along the way. From that foundation, we draw a clear line between temporary applause and lasting fruit, describing how encouragement, integrity, generosity, and truth spoken in love ripple through families and communities far beyond what metrics can capture. We offer a short, heartfelt prayer for courage and clarity, and we invite you to ask for one small, specific way to be fruitful today. That next right step might be a kind message, a patient choice, or a quiet act of service that no one else notices—and that is exactly the point.
Along the way, we share how purpose thrives in the ordinary and why proximity to the Source matters more than polish. If you’ve been waiting for a sign that you are ready, consider this your reminder: you were chosen, and your appointment includes this season, this place, and these people. Listen to be encouraged, to reset your measure of success, and to step into a day shaped by faithful love rather than fear. If the message meets you where you are, subscribe, share it with someone who needs courage, and leave a review to help others find their way to this conversation.

SPEAKER_01:Today is day three. Chosen and Appointed. We'll be in John chapter 15, verse 16 from the New Living Translation. You didn't choose me. I chose you. I appointed you to go and produce lasting fruit. Hey, it's Saturday. Take a breath. I'm really glad you're here. I'm Lauren, and I love that we get to slow things down a little on the weekends and reset together. Today we're talking about something deeply personal. What it means to be chosen and appointed by God. Because if we're honest, most of us don't feel chosen like me a lot. We feel overlooked, we feel unqualified, we feel like there are so many other people who seem more competent, more gifted, more ready than we are. And somewhere along the way, we start to wonder if God really meant us when he talked about calling people. But Jesus makes this very clear. Not only did he choose you, he appointed you on purpose and with intention. So God has plans for your life that are meant to produce lasting fruit, not temporary applause, not surface level success, but fruit that impacts people, hearts, and generations in ways you may never fully see. We often get stuck asking, Am I qualified? Am I ready? Do I have what it takes? But God has never waited for someone to be fully qualified before calling them. He equips the ones he calls every single time. And even when you don't feel ready, especially when you don't feel ready, God is reminding you today, I chose you. I appointed you. Your life matters, your obedience matters. The way you love people matters. And God wants to use you right where you are, not someday when you feel more confident. So let's pray together. Lord, thank you for choosing me before I ever thought about choosing you. Help me live today with the awareness that I'm called, equipped, and purposeful. Teach me to trust you when I feel unsure and to walk boldly into what you've placed in front of me. Amen. Now, what I want you to do is ask God to show you one simple way you can be fruitful for his kingdom today. It doesn't have to be big, it just has to be obedient. I'll see you tomorrow on weekends with Lauren. Well, that's all for today. But remember, I'm here every weekend, and you should be too. The executive producer for Wisdom for the Day, Weekends with Lauren, is Kimmy Shirley. Special intro and outro music by Weston McCurry.
