Wisdom for the Day - Standing Strong
Day 10 Chosen for a Purpose | 1 Thessalonians 1:4
When the week turns loud and your heart feels thin, a single line of scripture can reset the entire day: God loves you and has chosen you to be his own. We pause with 1 Thessalonians 1:4 and tease out what that truth means for real life—identity before activity, purpose before performance, and a calling that does not shift just because our feelings do. I share why being chosen is not a trophy for the days you’re winning but a foundation for the moments you feel unsure, tired, or stuck.
We get honest about the friction points—doubt, delay, and the lies that whisper too flawed, too late, too broken. Then we answer them with a better word: chosen, loved, sent. If your week has stacked up noise and hurry, this short devotional helps you quiet the room and remember who you are in Christ. We talk about how your gifts were placed with intention, how struggles can shape compassion, and how even ordinary encounters are part of a larger design to encourage, influence, and uplift others.
You’ll hear a simple prayer to ground the day and one small challenge: ask God to highlight one person to encourage right now. Send the text. Speak life. Let purpose be practiced, not postponed. Along the way, we offer ways to stay connected so you can keep building a steady rhythm of faith and courage through your weekends and into the week ahead.
If this encouraged you, share it with someone who needs a lift today, subscribe for more weekend devotionals, and leave a quick review so others can find these moments of calm and clarity.

See Ya!
Hey, it's the weekend, and you made it. This is Wisdom for the Day, weekends with Lauren. Let's rest our hearts before a new week begins. Today is day 10, chosen for a purpose. We'll be in 1 Thessalonians chapter 1, verse 4 from the New Living Translation. We know, dear brothers and sisters, that God loves you and has chosen you to be his own people. Hey, it's Saturday, and I'm really glad you're here. I'm Lauren, and I love these weekend moments when we get to slow down, breathe a little deeper, and be reminded of who we are in Christ. Life can be loud during the week, so today let's quiet the noise and lean into truth. Paul writes something so simple yet so powerful. He says that God loves you and has chosen you to be his own. That means your life isn't accidental. Your story isn't random. God's choice of you was intentional. You were chosen for a reason. God knew the gifts he placed inside you. He knew the strengths you'd need, the lessons you'd learn, and even the struggles that would shape your compassion. He also knew the people you would encounter along the way, even the ones you'd encourage, the ones you'd influence, and the ones who would be impacted by your obedience. Standing strong in your identity means learning to walk and purpose even when life feels uncertain. There will be seasons where you feel confident and clear, and others where you might feel unsure or stuck. But God's calling on your life doesn't shift with your emotions. It doesn't disappear when you feel tired or afraid. It rests on his faithfulness, not your feelings. The enemy loves to whisper lies in moments of uncertainty. He'll tell you that you're too broken, too flawed, or that you've missed your chance. But God speaks something very different over your life. He says, I chose you. Not later, not when you get it all together, for this moment, right here and right now. You don't have to have everything figured out to walk and purpose. You just have to trust the one who chose you. Let's pray together. Lord, thank you for choosing me and calling me your own. Help me live today with purpose and confidence, remembering that I am deeply loved and intentionally placed where I am. Teach me to trust you even when the path feels unclear. Amen. Now, I want you to do something. Ask God to show you one person you can encourage today. It might be a text, a kind word, or a simple reminder that they matter. Speak life into them the same way God speaks life into you. Now I'll see you tomorrow for another weekend with Lauren Devotional. Well, that's all for today. But remember, I'm here every weekend, and you should be too. If today's meetup encouraged you, don't keep it to yourself. Share this episode with someone who might need it right now. A friend, a family member, or someone walking through a hard season. And if you'd like to reach out, learn more, or explore past episodes, you can find us at wisdomforthey.org or click on send us a text. It's at the top of the show note, right on your app. I'll even give you a shout out on an upcoming episode. We're grateful you're here, and we're honored to walk this journey of faith with you one day at a time. This is Wisdom for the Day. Bye!
